He is the founder and president of the Greater Williamsburg Virginia Symphony Society and secretary of the Williamsburg Arts Commission. '49 H. C. Smyth Jr. (ME), a retired member of the Texas National Guard, was added to the state's Hall of Honor. He had an outstanding career in the Texas National Guard and was recognized by his peers for his service to state and nation '58 Robert L. Hodges (AGRN) was named an honorary member of the Virginia Assoc. of Professional Soil Scientists for his distinguished service to the Commonwealth of Virginia. He served for 35 years as a soil scientist. Sumner W. Patch (POUL) retired as a science teacher from the Montgomery County, Md., public school system. '59 Robert C. Gibson (ME), chairman and CFO with Clark Nexsen, was installed as a fellow with the National Society of Professional Engineers. Louis L. Guy Jr. (CE) was appointed to the State Water Commission. He was named to the Board of Ethical Review by the National Society of Professional Engineers and is chairman of the board for Family Services of Tidewater. '62 William F. Christ (PAD) is executive vice president and chief operating officer of Hershey Foods Corp. W. M. Phillips (ME), vice president for research and dean of the graduate school at the University of Florida, received the 2000 Linton E. Grinter Distinguished Service Award from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. '63 Edward M. Coates Jr. (ME) retired from Hercules Inc. as manager after 34 years of service. '65 Barry I. Hyman (EM), professor of mechanical engineering and public affairs at the University of Washington, received the American Society of Mechanical Engineers' Ralph Coats Roe Medal. Alfred W. Woody (ME) is technical advisor, mechanical engineering, with Albert Kahn Associates Inc. '66 J. V. Bowen Jr. (STAT) was named a fellow of the American Society for Quality (ASQ). Robert P. Davids (EE) retired as senior systems engineer with GE Industrial Systems after 31 years of service. G. Gil Seigler III (DE) retired from Virginia Power and is currently a board member with American Academic & Cultural Exchange Inc. '68 Carter T. Gill (BAD) was promoted to captain with United Airlines. Robert A. Magoon Jr. (ARCH), principal with Magoon & Associates, is treasurer of the Virginia Society of the American Institute of Architects. '69 Robert G. Hutter (CHE) was licensed as a certified financial planner by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. J. Randolph Jessee (SOC) is director of news systems at The New York Times. Russell V. Sultenfuss (AGEC) is vice president of finance at Federated Capital Corp. '70 Daniel M. Dick (IE) has finished his command of the 13th Air Force in Guam and is now the director of strategy, requirements, and integration for U.S. Joint Forces Command located in Norfolk. L. Dale Howe (MKTG) recently joined Covasoft to establish worldwide field operations. Frances R. Snyder (MATH) received an M.A. in Judaic studies from Hebrew College in Brookline, Mass. She is a Jewish educator at synagogues in the Boston area. Wilbert E. Wilhelm Jr. (IE) was named the inaugural holder of the Mike & Sugar Barnes Professorship at Texas A&M University. '71 John J. Aiello (IEOR) celebrated the 10th anniversary of the founding of his manufacturer's representative sales agency, PSE Associates, LLC. Terry L. Bazzarre (BIOL) is senior program officer for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Charles B. Glennon (CHE), a teacher at Seabury Hall School in Makawao, Hawaii, was selected for the 1999 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Edward L. Moore (IEOR), senior safety consultant for Healthcomp Evaluation Services Corp., was named chairman of the ASTM committee F18 on electrical protective equipment for workers. '73 S. Wayne Kay (BIOL) was recently named chief operating officer of Quidel Corp. '74 James V. Meath (UA) was elected by the Virginia Bar Assoc. to represent the capital region on the executive committee. Elwood Jr. (BIOL) joined Dominion Telecom in Richmond, Va., as carrier relations specialist. Kevin G. Goodwin (FIN) was selected missions resource for the Peninsula-Delaware Conference of the United Methodist Church. Roy M. Martin Jr. (PSCI) was named president and CEO of Dialog. Maury S.
