C. Curtis Mast, 3/7/98. Mast was a professor of animal science and 32-year employee of Virginia Cooperative Extension until 1976. His achievements include helping establish the Virginia Beef Cattle Improvement Association and a system to test forage samples and evaluate hay and silage to improve their nutritive value.

Don R. Sebolt, 3/21/98. Sebolt, a faculty member in the Department of Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise, helped establish the Exercise Physiology Laboratory. His research evaluated the effects of physical activity and the relation of diet to muscle function.

Boyd Harshbarger, 5/28/98. Harshbarger founded the Virginia Tech Stastical Laboratory in 1947 and the department of statistics in 1949. He served as head of Virginia Tech's statistics department, one of the oldest in the U.S., from 1949 - 1972 and was named professor emeritus in 1976.
