Alumni Association NewsNew: Online address updates & registrations Want to make sure that you get the latest news about what is happening at Virginia Tech? Want to learn about Virginia Tech events in your area? Virginia Tech alumni are busier and more mobile than ever. Many need a fast and convenient way to let the university know about news, such as relocations and employment changes, and to make sure they stay connected to fellow alumni and the university. It is easy to do just thatonline! Go to www.VaTechAlumni.com and click on the link labeled "View and Update My Alumni Records." After establishing a username and password, inspect your alumni profile and make additions or changes. Update your information right there, instantly, anytime, from any computer with secure access to the Internet. The username and password selected also will allow each alum to access a free online educational program (or "knowledge unit") through the new VTAlumnNET distance learning network. See the article on page 20 for more details. Also new on the Internet: Classes celebrating reunions may register online, make reunion weekend lodging reservations, and reserve reunion game football tickets. Go to www.VaTechAlumni.com and select "Reunions & Special Events." Check out the schedule of events, and register to attend your special weekend without looking for a stamp, envelope, or fax machine. Look for more exciting services coming this summer. Alumni Association spring/summer events May 17-18, 2001 -- Old Guard Reunion All Virginia Tech graduates become members of the Old Guard after celebrating their 50th anniversary of graduation. Each spring members gather on campus to visit with classmates and tour new facilitiesa highlight of the Alumni Association year. June 20-24, 2001 Summer Around the Drillfield Each summer, the Alumni Association hosts a vacation opportunity for alumni and their families who wish to return to spend a several-day "alumni college" experience living in a residence hall and joining in faculty lectures, campus tours, and fun activities in the scenic mountain setting in and around Blacksburg. This year's focus is Information and Communication Technology, and in addition to this wonderful opportunity to witness many advances in these fields, participants can enjoy a full variety of events and entertainment.
