Alumni Relations staff promotions and appointments

Marissa Dail Erpelding (communication studies '95) has joined the staff as alumni chapter coordinator, based in Richmond. Erpelding's part-time position will involve work with the Charlottesville, Commonwealth, Eastern Shore, Williamsburg, Emporia, Peanut, Peninsula, Richmond, Tidewater, and Tri-Cities chapters. Her phone number is (804) 786-8111.

Former associate director Richard Hastings (finance '91) was promoted in July to senior associate director. Also in July, former assistant director Jack Hutcheson (distributive education '71) was promoted to associate director. Hutcheson works in the Northern Virginia office.

The alumni association has educational tour opportunities planned for the following destinations:
BIG EAST cruise to the Islands of the West Indies (Jan. 10-17); tour to Austria (Feb. 14-21); Alumni College in Great Britain (May 18-26); "Journey of the Czars" Moscow to St. Petersburg cruise (May 28-June 10); Alumni College in Tuscany (June 1-9); Alumni College in Norway (June 21-29); Scandinavian capitals and St. Petersburg cruise (June 24 - July 9) with Paul and Dot Torgersen as hosts; BIG EAST tour to Paris, the Alps and French Waterways cruise (July 20-Aug. 3); "Passage of the Caesars" French and Italian coastal cruise (Aug. 3-17); Alumni College in Greece (Aug. 30-Sept. 8); and tour to China and Yangtze River cruise (October 3-23); "Around the World" (October), and South American cruise (Nov. 20 - Dec. 9)

The alumni association and Career Services are offering Virginia Tech CareerLink (formerly Tech Connect), which puts Virginia Tech alumni and students in touch with Virginia Tech alumni for career planning and job search assistance.
